African Rosary
I make rosaries in times of stress. The oil disaster in the Gulf has weighed heavily on my mind, and the anniversary of Katrina is always emotional. It isn't often that one comes across enough old padre beads at one time to make a rosary. These were a real find.
The cross is an antique from Ethiopia, approx. 3 inches long. It was made from melted Ethiopian silver coins when the currency was devalued in the late 1800's. The antique Bohemian glass padre beads are hand-knotted with African coconut shell spacers on Irish linen bootlace. Antique Venetian glass king beads with stripe and eye patterns are the stations of the rosary. Rosary total length is approx. 60 inches. Item h1001 ... $299.00
